Tradition and everyday use
Hemp seed oil brings a green, gently nutty flavour to the kitchen. Traditionally, it is valued as an addition to simple plant-based meals: grains, vegetables and bread.
Its role in your diet
It provides unsaturated fatty acids, including LA and ALA. The body needs these nutrients, among other things, as components of cell membranes. Its place is at the everyday table, as part of a varied diet.
How we recommend using it
Choose it if you enjoy savoury, plant-based flavours. It pairs particularly well with grains, pulses and fresh herbs. Add it after cooking to preserve its character.
- Grain salads with cucumber and fresh herbs.
- Bean or chickpea spreads.
- Cooked potatoes and vegetables: add the oil after preparation.
Taste and character
Slightly nutty and herbaceous, with a distinctive green note.
What does science say?
The study by Callaway and colleagues (2005) reported promising observations on skin dryness and itching in people with atopic dermatitis. It adds to our understanding of hemp seed oil; it is not a recommendation to replace treatment.
How to store it
After opening, keep refrigerated, tightly closed and protected from light, following the label. Check the use-by guidance on your bottle.
