Tradition and everyday use
Evening primrose is a plant long valued in herbal tradition. Oil from its tiny seeds is an invitation to explore some of the less familiar plant fats thoughtfully.
Its role in your diet
A characteristic component is gamma-linolenic acid (GLA), an omega-6 fatty acid involved in lipid metabolism. GLA is a particular focus of scientific interest.
How we recommend using it
We recommend it as an addition to mild spreads and prepared cold sauces, following the label. Discover its flavour and place in the diet while keeping food distinct from medicinal preparations.

What does science say?
GLA and evening primrose oil have been studied in relation to skin and women’s health concerns. NCCIH’s review finds that current results do not establish the oil as an effective treatment for these conditions.
How to store it
